Can I choose the design we tie dye?
For adults/team-building events, and children who are 12 or older, the party host/hostess can choose ahead of time from a variety of designs.
For birthday parties and workshops for children ages 11 and under, and for other beginners, my assistants and I guide the children through the process of folding a spiral. It is the easiest for beginners and turns out great results. If you prefer something more advanced, and the children are under the age of 11, there is an additional charge of $5 per participant (groups of 15 or less). We will pre-fold the main design or shape onto the shirts. Even though the design is pre-folded, I will take time to demonstrate how I did the folding so that participants understand why their shirt looks like it does, and so they will be able to navigate the folded shirt when applying the dye.
If your event has 10 or fewer participants aged 11 or older, you can add an additional hour of studio time for the participants to fold their shirts. This option costs an additional $65.
Can I dye other stuff besides t-shirts?
Yes, I have completed events with mini-tapestries, tote bags, long sleeved shirts, tank tops, and some accessories. If you have a particular item you wanna dye, just contact us.
Can you handle large groups?
Yes, we have dyed with groups as large as 350+ people outside of the studio. We can do bigger or smaller. Not a problem. Bring it on!!
Can I bring food for the event?
Absolutely! What party is complete without some snacks?
Can I bring my own music?
We encourage you to have a playlist ready. We have a speaker with a hook up for iPad/iPhone etc. If you prefer, we can pull up a party playlist for you.
I booked a studio party, now what?
Once I receive your deposit, I will create custom party forms to collect shirt sizes and make sure we have all of your party details.
- The name of each participant and their t-shirt size at least one week before the date of the party: Kids sizes include Small (5-6), Medium (7-8), Large (10), and XL (12-14). The shirts are preshrunk, but take into account they may want these to last more than a few months. In order to keep the party running smoothly, it is important that I have the names of the guests ahead of time. Adult sizes are pretty standard. Please note: If you are requesting screen printing on the shirts, I must have the design confirmation and all the guests names and sizes three weeks before the date of the party.
- A signed waiver for each participant by the start of the party: Inform parents about the waiver they need to sign and send/bring to the workshop. It is mandatory for each participant to have a waiver filled out before they can dye with us. It also allows me to use pictures from the party for advertising. The waiver is available as a PDF.
You can always let me know if you have any more questions.

What do I need to know if you're coming to my location?
- In order to set up, I will arrive at the event location approximately 60-90 minutes before the start time.
- Worried it might be messy? Gloves and aprons are provided to protect skin and clothes. In art, like life, accidents can happen so we do recommend wearing clothing you don’t mind staining. What about the floors? Fear not, I floor coverings to keep things tidy. I have even been successful conducting parties over white carpet.
- There are usually specific questions depending on the location. I will be happy to talk over the details and make recommendations, so contact me and we will talk.

About Tie Dyeing
Is tie dyeing educational?
Absolutely!
We use visual examples to show the children different ways they can dye their shirts to create different types of spirals. I teach the kids how to create the entire color spectrum using only fuchsia, turquoise, yellow, pastel pink and blue. We use already dyed items to teach how application changes the outcome of their creation. Upon request, for ages 8 and up, I do a coloring activity. We may even bust out the whiteboard. This interactive method helps to reinforce how to create the secondary colors using only the primary colors. For the younger children, we teach it on a more age-appropriate level. They see what we teach them unfold before their very eyes. It is always so awesome to watch their eyes brighten as they see what they can create.
Is tie dyeing messy?
We have been doing this for over 10 years. We have a system that allows everyone to have fun and be creative while keeping the space tidy and the dye contained to the table top and the t-shirt.
Gloves and aprons are provided to protect skin and clothes. In art, like life, accidents can happen so we do recommend wearing clothing you don’t mind staining.
What about hosting events outside the studio? Should you be worried about your floors? Fear not, I have 100×40 foot tarp to keep things tidy. I have even been successful conducting parties over white carpet.
How do I care for my tie dye shirt? Will it fade?
We use the same professional materials and techniques that I use as an artist. With proper care, they will not fade or bleed over time or from washing. See our washing and care instructions to learn more.
